Christmas Party Playlist

Merry Christmas, everyone!  Hope you are enjoying days filled with joy, kindness and love.  This year I feel that I’ve hardly had enough time to really dwell in the spirit of the season but I’ve been trying to find small ways to celebrate each day by starting my morning with worship music and Christmas songs.  Here are a few of my favorite songs to add to your Christmas Party Playlist:

  1. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas She & Him
  2. No Christmas for Me Zee Avi
  3. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Jack Johnson
  4. Santa Baby Kellie Pickler
  5. All I Want for Christmas Matt Costa
  6. Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree Brenda Lee
  7. Let It Be Christmas Alan Jackson
  8. All I Want for Christmas Is You Mariah Carey
  9. Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Dean Martin
  10. How Great Thou Art Carrie Underwood

Also, I really wanted to share this video from Saddleback Church.  Mumbles and I saw this performed live at church a few years ago – it gave me chills to watch and hear and sing and I feel the same way everytime I watch it now (which is often).  I love the stillness and innocence of the song paired with the stomp-style dramatic rhythym.  Please enjoy Little Drummer Boy:

New words: Caffiend and Caffriend

Caffiend
noun

A person extremely devoted and addicted to liquid in the form of soda or coffee.

Also inspired the word Caffriend, a person – possibly at the office – with whom you share your caffeine addiction.  I will not comment as to whether this is the sole reason you are friends with this person, but caffeine’s a real addiction. It bonds people.

Great Gift Idea: Buddha Board

Have you ever heard of a Buddha Board? It’s a great gift for coworkers, kids, or anyone who likes creative expression and painting. Once you buy a Buddha Board, the only supply you need is water! I have mine in the office and it’s a great mind break for me to clear my head and spend a few minutes painting – really convenient too, because the painting disappears completely after about two minutes, leaving a blank slate for the next moment inspiration strikes you or for the next person to have their turn!

Here’s one of my recent creations – as you can see I’m quite the artist…

Pinterested?

Are you on Pinterest yet? I keep pestering everyone I know about Pinterest because I’m really quite obsessed and it’s been taking up a lot of my free time. Free time which I don’t really have, and actually my perusing on Pinterest is just giving me more brilliant crafty ideas to take up the rest of the free time I don’t have.

It would have been incredible to have this handy tool while planning my wedding, but now I’m putting it to good use to help Dr. Merrett pick details for hers, and for me with her bridal shower.  I’ve got inspiration boards to visualize ideas for party themes and decor, home decorating, craft projects, recipes, and more!  It really does help us see what we are creatively and passionately drawn to in our lives.  What’s your favorite board on Pinterest about?

You can follow me on Pinterest here and be sure to let me know how to follow you if you’re on Pinterest too!

Meet Baxter

Our nameless new dog quickly stole our hearts and our household is forever changed. I’m routinely getting up early for walks, talking to the dog like he’s a person, and the matter of canine bathroom behavior is a regular topic of conversation. Definitely gearing up for parenthood, I’d say, and a whole new level of connection with my dear Daddy who really quite seriously treats his two pups like toddlers. It’s adorable and makes you want to roll your eyes all at the same time. And now I’m one of those people, too.

So, now our happy house is home to three, including our darling, mischevious pupster, Baxter.  Here’s what we know so far about Baxter:

  • likes to make chase after bunnies and birds.
  • aforementioned behavior has given us quite the scare a few times over, as we believe Baxter to be a runner.
  • because of above point, Baxter is now microchipped.
  • looks way better shaggy than he does groomed.
  • does not understand “sit,” “stay,” “come,” or any other regular dog command.
  • also, much to our disappointment, does not understand Spanish.
  • favorite ways to be entertained: running up and down stairs, chewing toys, stealing towels, pawing away at a rolls of toilet paper, eating toilet paper, pulling trash out of trash cans, army crawling across grass, watching traffic go by.
