Sweet Stuff: Artifact Uprising

Dear Mumbles, if you’re reading this: stop. Thanks. Love you!

Friends, I just ordered some awesome prints and the wood block from Artifact Uprising for Mumbles for Father’s Day. (since the baby’s not here yet, the prints are of Baxter — who else?!)

I can’t wait to receive them. I think they’ll look great in his office and I also ordered some extra prints of some of my Instagram photos (flowers, details, cityscapes) to be used as postcards and to hang in my office at work.  I really like their suggestion to use prints as postcards or note cards too — consider my office a revolving art gallery now!

The other day I read this blog post about how Artifact Uprising was founded and was particularly taken by these wise words:

Katie’s sage advice to creatives:Creativity on command is the most difficult kind to summon, yet it’s the very art expected from the working creative. So put space between it. Get out there and live a life away from that art, find spaces that widen your world. Let creativity be the symptom of a life well-lived.

P.S. I also plan to buy the wooden box once baby is born and fill it with photos from my pregnancy and keep adding to it with books and prints. so sweet, right?  I’d love to have a little collection of wooden boxes on the shelf to go through. good stuff!

Sweet Find: Mrs. Pomeranz on Etsy

Meet Mrs. Pomeranz.  Well, she isn’t a she, but a lovely group of dress makers in Moscow, including two sisters, who make gorgeous dresses and skirts based on classic 50’s silhouettes. Swoon!!  Noting influence and inspiration of their grandmothers who were talented seamstresses, here’s the story of how they got started making dresses:

“I discovered Russian shawls when I was 5: my grandmother had a beautiful shawl from Pavlovo-Posad. It was green with beautiful orange lilies, red roses and bluebells on a vibrant green background. I adored this shawl and attempted to make my first dress with it: my grandmother was’t happy. So this is the second try. I hope you like it!”

If I was made of money, I’d have one of every dress. This one is my absolute favorite:

But this one made with Liberty fabric comes in a very close second:

I also adore this one; it reminds me of Alice & Wonderland!

Sweet Stuff: Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day

mrs meyers basilAs a kid, I always loved back to school shopping. The clothes – yes. The new school supplies – love! I could seriously spend hours in places like Staples and Office Depot, and websites like SeeJaneWork.com? Forget about it, there goes my afternoon! Well, apparently tastes mature because my new thing is soap. Seriously. Soap.

I’ve talked before about my obsession with Soap.com and I just can’t properly explain how excited I get when I buy new soap. Dish soap, hand soap, body wash. I love it all. But, I especially love Mrs. Meyer’s. It’s probably a lot to do with the packaging, but also a lot to do with the smell. I just adore the Basil scent. I’ve stumbled across it (and usually purchased it) at Home Depot, Target, Ralphs, World Market, WalMart, and of course Soap.com.  But, I’d never visited the Mrs. Meyer’s website, which I found to be just as crisp and pleasant as their packaging.  Whilst perusing, I found some scents I’ve never before seen in stores. I’d really like to try Rhubarb and the new Radish. Sounds weird and I like it.

Do you use Mrs. Meyer’s? Do you like it?

P.S. Check out the Mrs. Meyer*s brand story (http://www.mrsmeyers.com/content.jsp?pageName=Our-Story) and just take a look at that doll Thelma Meyer. Isn’t she just exquisite?

P.P.S. I noticed that there’s a promo today on Soap.com for up to 20% off Mrs. Meyer’s products using the code 20MEYER…stock up now! (probably an Earth Day thing…)

P.P.S.S.  Mrs. Meyer’s just announced that they’ve brought back their refillable glass bottles for liquid hand soap. Love!  Get one here.
