The Limited + Scandal

Everyone knows Olivia Pope’s got style. If you think you can handle copious amounts of red wine around a lot of cream, white and beige clothes, you’ll surely want to scoop up pieces from the new Scandal-inspired collection of womenswear later this month at The Limited.  The collaboration partnered leading lady Kerry Washington with her brilliant costume designer Lyn Paolo so you know it’s gonna be fierce.  I think it’s going to be a smashing success and can’t wait to see it. There’s gotta be an over-sized white coat, right?

Oh, Overalls

So, apparently overalls are making a comeback.  Not kidding!  I’m all for the vintage/retro attire but I don’t quite know how I feel about overalls. Certainly they’re cute and easy to wear. Very spring and summery.  I think it’s perhaps that I still cringe recalling wearing very over sized overalls from Gap back in middle school and high school. With a tube top.  Very classy, I know.  But this pair from Topshop seems pretty unassuming for casual Saturdays out running errands or picnicking in the park.  Don’t forget your white Keds!

Sweet Stuff: My Closet on Poshmark

In an effort to totally declutter (nesting much?!?) my closet, I’ve started listing a bunch of items on Poshmark. If you’re not yet obsessed with Poshmark like I am, sorry to be the one to make you less productive slash obsessively check your phone and buy things you don’t really need because they’re such a good deal. But there it is…enjoy!

I figure it’d be nice to make a few dollars if I can (most of the items listed are under $20 with just a few exceptions. I’m definitely open to all offers and if this stuff doesn’t clear out in a month or two, I’ll likely be taking it to Goodwill anyway. So, check out my closet, peruse around, and start adding your favorites to your collection of likes.

Happy Shopping!

P.S. Do you have items from your closet listed on Poshmark?  Or, are you specifically on the hunt for a particular item?  I found this amazing red J.Crew bag that I can’t get out of my head!

Emerald Green for 2013

Did you know that Emerald Green is Pantone’s color of the year for 2013?  (read more about that here.)  It’s good news for people like my brother who have been wondering what to do with the green carpet that covers most of his home — it’s totally in style now!  That’s the thing, isn’t it? You wait long enough and you’re always back in style. Well, I’ve had a Nordy’s gift card burning a hole in my pocket since my birthday and I think I’ve found just the outfit to spend it on!

Cozy Up to Fur

There’s something about winter (though we don’t quite have winter in California, do we?) that just calls for fur, I think.  I found an awesome pillow at Home Goods the other day – a brownish gray fur on one side and velvet on the other. And I had to have it. Had to. It’s on my couch now in all its soft, cozy, calming awesomeness.  Baxter under one arm, my fur pillow under the other.  And, I realized (how crazy that sounds, yes) that I’ve got a bit of a thing for fur.  Mrs. Mercado and I swooned over the chic but casual fur throw from west elm, I’ve always loved the little white throw from Ikea that you see in nurseries and on at-home office chairs all over Pinterest and Apartment Therapy, and then Target Does It Again kept taking photos of a white faux fur coat that I just had to go out and buy despite the fact that I feel a bit Russian when wearing it (and Mumbles thinks I look like a pretty Chewbacca so sadly, I returned it).  Also, my mother has some gorgeous real fur coats (inherited from my Grammy) that I might someday have the gumption to wear and at the Long Beach Flea Market a few weeks ago I noticed a lot of sellers had vintage coats and stoles and wraps that lots of ladies were happily taking them home.  So yeah, I’ve got faux fur on the brain faux sure. (see what I did there?!)

From coats to hoodies to boots, throws and pillows…how do you feel about fur?

What’s cuter than baby clothes?

Nothing. Nothing is cuter than baby clothes. I never thought I’d like shopping for anyone more than myself but BFOTB (I guess that makes me the BFOTBM now: Best Friend of the Baby Mama) is expecting a gorgeous (I know she will be!) bundle of joy next week (!) and I am already smitten. To top it all off, Mumbles’s brother and his wife are also expecting, so needless to say, I’m obsessed with darling baby fashions in anticipation of these love bugs. Check out some of the styles I’m coveting…

Darling ruffled, striped bathing suit (check out the back!) for beach days:

How about this precious bow? (they also have a onesie with glasses, a bow tie, mustache and more for young dapper dudes)

Because BFOTB and I are quite proud of a strong bond between us: a mutual love of Harry Potter, this one seems appropriate:

These bloomers?  Beachy chic! I can’t even stand how adorable they are.

And for fall and winter, this sweater is so darling, I’d wear it. It even comes with a matching hat!

This fair isle hat with tassels has a bit more girly pizzazz:

Per usual, I’m getting way ahead of myself and already perusing the 1-5 year old section.  But seriously, how cute is this new collection from Baby Gap?  You can’t blame me. It’s just too much fabulous in one tiny package.
