I’m still obsessing over all the fantastic gifts I received for Christmas and so thankful for all the thoughtful, generous, wonderful people in my life. I’ll surely be thinking of them when I wear and use my gifts throughout the year.
What’s the best gift you received (or gave) this year and why do you love it so much?
one of my favorite gifts this year: Steve Madden Troopa Boots
Leather jackets are a fashion staple. In tv shows, it’s always the cool chick in school that dons the black leather jacket to show the world she’s sassy and confident (I’m trying to be vague here but my mind is on Peyton Sawyer from One Tree Hill – she always looks so chic with that leather jacket on. Don’t judge me.) I decided that my wardrobe was sadly missing a classic leather jacket and while they usually wear quite a hefty price tag, I figured with the holidays and my birthday in December, it was a good time to shop around. Luckily, I had a super sleuth of a secret Santa this year who stalked my Pinterest boards (score!) and bought me the Topshop jacket I’d been swooning over — it even has a faux fur collar! Most of the real leather jackets I found were $400 and way more but while holiday sales abound, I’ve seen some nice ones like this for around $300 or less. Here are a few of the fabulous affordable options I found, all for under $120:
Hi, friends! I hope you’re enjoying this Christmas and celebrating with special people in your life. I’ve been listening to this Christmas Party Playlist from last year on repeat so thought I’d share it again in case you’re looking for some last-minute Christmas music. Don’t forget my new favorite Christmas tune from Grace Potter and take a few moments to watch the incredible stomp-style performance of Little Drummer Boy below — it’s one of my absolute favorites!

Also, I really wanted to share this video from Saddleback Church. Mumbles and I saw this performed live at church a few years ago – it gave me chills to watch and hear and sing and I feel the same way everytime I watch it now (which is often). I love the stillness and innocence of the song paired with the stomp-style dramatic rhythym. Please enjoy Little Drummer Boy:
Whenever I’m in the mood for crafting or doing something creative I usually like to be watching tv or listening to music, and since I love crafting so much, the music usually needs to be something upbeat and cheery. Here are some of the songs I’ve been singing along to while wrapping gifts whenever I’ve need a short break from Christmas carols:
1. “New Soul” by Yael Naim
2. “Only Prettier” by Miranda Lambert
3. “1234” by Feist
4. “King of Anything” by Sara Bareilles
5. “Be OK” by Ingrid Michaelson
6. “Beating My Heart” by Jon McLaughlin
7. “Shake It Out” by Florence + The Machine
8. “Soldier” by Gavin DeGraw
9. “Our Song” by Taylor Swift
10. “Love You I Do” from Dreamgirls
11. “The Show” by Lenka
12. “Anyone Else But You” by The Moldy Peaches
Do you listen to music to spark creativity? What songs do you like to sing along to?
Mumbles and I have just returned from a lovely holiday getaway in Hawaii. Perfectly timed, it was right after my birthday and now we’re back for all the fun family festivities. The last time we were in Hawaii we did a cruise to all the islands with just an afternoon to enjoy excursions, tours and sightseeing, plus a few extra days in Waikiki. We were eager for a week of lounging and quality time together and were lucky enough to stay at a friend’s family home in Kona. Just what we needed to recharge!
Do you spend the holidays at home or take a trip to get away and celebrate the end of the year?
